Inpatient Referrals

Admission:  We admit patients seven days a week; morning or early afternoon admission is preferred as it provides more time for the patient to become oriented to their new surroundings and meet our staff as they begin recovery.

Transportation:  If the patient is in an acute care hospital, transportation arrangements will be made with our nurse liaison and discharge planner/social worker.

Medication:  It is important that all medications (prescriptive and over-the-counter) are administered by one of our nurses.  If coming from home, the patient should bring all current medications in the original containers.  These will be reviewed by their physician.

Clothing:  We suggest wearing casual, comfortable clothes that allow for easy movement during therapy.  Hospital gowns are not needed since the patient will be out of their room all day.  Clothing should be labeled with the patient's name and all valuables should be left at home.  Patients should bring the following:

  • seasonal outwear
  • shirts/blouses with button fronts or pullovers that fit easily over the head
  • comfortable slacks, sweatpants or a sweat suit
  • athletic shoes with good support
  • undergarments
  • pajamas or gown, and robe
  • toiletry articles (toothpaste, toothbrush, comb, brush, deodorant, etc.)
  • corrective devices (dentures, eyeglasses, hearing aids, etc.)

Meals:  patient meals are planned daily by the nutritionist and physician to account for the patient's current medical condition.  Patients are strongly encouraged to eat in the dining room due to safety concerns.
